Letter from the Editor
July 8, 2019
Dear Readers,
Please join us in celebrating Boomalally Magazine’s one-year anniversary! What fun we’ve had sharing stories of people who are truly celebrating life after 50—whether working, playing, creating, learning, or giving back to the world.
We kicked off the publication in June 2018 with a fabulous photo collage from gifted photographer David Coblitz, titled “Plants with Personality.” We followed with a delightful story about “The Reinvention of Ms. Beverly” from Bev Schuetz, a popular speaker and the creator of HISTORY TALKS, a series of lectures on historical figures and other unusual topics.
Since then, we’ve had the honor and pleasure of sharing a variety of fascinating, intriguing, sometimes humorous stories from people who are pursuing their dreams and living full-out in the second half of life. For example, in our most recent article, “A Writer’s Life: Dueling Sisters,” budding author Cynthia Reyes Masse shares her first official short story. (A first for us, too. You go, girl!) Thank you, dear authors, for your delightful contributions. Thank you, entrepid readers, for joining us for the ride.
To celebrate our first birthday, we’ve given the magazine a beautiful makeover that’s designed to engage your senses and capture your imagination. Beginning in mid-July, we’re launching a new column called “The Coaches Corner,” hosted by yours truly in my role as a certified professional coach (CPC). We’ll focus on powerful ways to help you get “unstuck,” launch a new chapter, or level up your performance in your personal and professional life. “Coaches Corner” will take the place of “Dear Gigi” and “Managing Midlife.” However, you’ll still be able to access that great information in our archives.
As we begin the second year of our journey, we reaffirm our commitment to telling inspiring “hero stories” and sharing practical advice about ways to balance life around our five major themes. Our mission is to offer inspiration and information that you can count on as you reconnect with your purpose, explore your passions, and launch your dreams at 50 and beyond.
If you have a great story to tell or know someone else who does, please consider submitting or nominating the story for publication in Boomalally Magazine. Just click on the appropriate link in the sentence above. We would love for you to join us as a newly minted Boomalally author.
No matter where the future leads, we wish you a year of discovery, exploration, and fun.
Cheers to you,
Deb Gaut
